The Zohra & Mumtaz Welfare Foundation (Z&MWF) was founded by Mr. Tariq Yousuf and Mr. Asad Tareen, in memory of their late mothers. With a vision to support underprivileged communities, they established the foundation near their farm in Mirpur Sakro, Sindh, providing healthcare, education, and clean drinking water.
At Zohra & Mumtaz Welfare Foundation, we are committed to creating lasting change through education, healthcare, clean water, and community development. By supporting underserved families, empowering women, and investing in the future of children, we strive to build healthier, stronger, and more self-reliant communities. Together, we are turning hope into action and transforming lives every day.
What started as a small initiative three years ago has now expanded into a fully operational facility, thanks to the support of family and friends. Z&MWF runs a clinic with trained medical staff, ensuring healthcare access for locals. The foundation has also set up a clean drinking water supply for nearby villages.
Established in 2020, Z&MWF now provides primary healthcare to approximately 3,000 patients monthly in the region and surrounding areas. The foundation has a team of trained medical professionals, including doctors, a midwife, a pharmacist, and a sinologist, along with visiting specialists in gynecology and pediatrics, ensuring comprehensive medical care for the community.
At this facility, primary healthcare services, including consultations and medications, are provided completely free of charge. It is the only center in the area offering proper treatment for dog bites, snake bites, and stunted growth.

Late Mrs. Mumtaz Tareen, the founder of AMN Primary, recognized the critical importanceof women’s empowerment over forty years ago, at a time when girls’ education was largely disregarded, particularly in underprivileged communities where sending daughters to school was seen as taboo.
Mrs. Tareen was unwavering in her commitment to this cause. Despite facing significant resistance from community elders, she opened a makeshift garage school for young girls behind SMCH Society. Initially met with criticism and numerous challenges, she remained resolute & dedicated to her mission. The girls who attended this school in its early days went on to secure decent jobs, enabling them to support their families & break barriers for future generations.
Due to the proximity to the sea, the underground water is highly salty and unsuitable for drinking. The villagers have no alternative but to rely on canal water, which is unsafe for human consumption. Tragically, without any other options, locals are compelled to use water from the same canals where their animals bathe and drink, further compromising its quality.
Z&MWF has launched a community education program aimed at improving the personal hygiene, health, and mental health awareness of local underprivileged women and children.
Due to a significant lack of education, many families in the area are unaware of basic cleanliness practices and self-care. Through this program, we aim to provide guidance on these essential topics to help reduce illness caused by poor hygiene and promote better overall health. To achieve this, we will invite specialists from various fields to deliver lectures and educate the local community on these critical issues.
Women Empowerment
Our NGO Zohra & Mumtaz Welfare Foundation has been dedicated to empowering women in our community for years, and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far. Our successful clinic, school, and clean water projects have made a significant impact on the lives of countless women and their families in the rural area of Mirpur Sakro Sindh.
Just to elaborate a little on women’s exploitation, they work in fields, sowing seeds, picking crops, bear children (on average 10 children) fetch drinkable water from distance plus tend to the children while men are only busy in watering the fields and having tea at small hotels and doing petty politics.
